9 Reasons to Worship Hairpins While Travelling

These little lifesavers are an absolute must have on your packing list! Not just for their obvious uses but also for more unconventional thinking! They really do come in handy in more ways than you might think. BackHackers have compiled just a small list of reasons to love these little babies…

1. Super-hot country vs. fringe is an absolute no no. Any unwanted hair can be neatly pinned up and out of your face by a little hairpin.

2. Hairpins are perfect for keeping packets sealed – especially good for camping or if you’re travelling with food bits. If you twist the top of the packaging, and secure with a hairpin you’ll be keeping the produce fresh while avoiding any annoying bag spillages!

3. Keeping hairbands together. Any girl with long enough hair to tie up will agree that hairbands (much like tampons) appear everywhere and anywhere…apart from when you actually need them. It’s hard to keep track of the little things. Avoid the hairband panic by keeping them all neatly threaded onto a hairpin. That way they’ll all be kept together and much easier to find as a bundle!

4. Getting to that last bit of toothpaste! If you’re on the road, you usually don’t have stocks of spare toiletries and will normally wait until something runs out completely before buying it again. The worst item for this to happen with is toothpaste – no one likes a gacky mouth. If you are really struggling to get that last bit of paste out, grab your hairpin! Fix it round the end of the tube and squeeze all the way down until that last bit of minty goodness arrives safely on your brush!

5. If fishing for your own dinner while travelling, don’t fret if you find yourself out of hooks! You can grab a hairpin, bend into the shape of a hook, and fish to your hearts content!

6. If you find a zip on your bag or item of clothing has broken, a hairpin can save the day! Thread a hairpin into the broken part of the zipper and zip away.

7. If travelling with locks on your luggage, you may find you’ve misplaced the keys at some stage. In this instance, use a hairpin to pick the lock!

8. If in dire need of a screwdriver, a hairpin can always be a good substitute! It may take a little longer but it will get the job done!

9. These little babies come in super handy for resetting any electronical devices if you don’t want to sacrifice your earring.
