Don’t cry for me Argentina…because I’m booking a flight right now! Here’s a short list of BackHackers’ favourite places that can be found in one of South America’s most amazing countries!
Iguazu Falls
Take it all in, because this is the largest waterfall in the world! The fact that only an aerial image can do it justice goes to show how absolutely huge these falls are. Nestled between Argentina and Brazil, this 82m show stopper of a waterfall includes a whopping 275 drops – it’s even bigger and wider than the Niagara Falls!
Perito Moreno Glacier
You can find this stunning glacier in Los Glaciares National Park in the Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. It covers an area of 250 km² and is actually still advancing (unlike most other glaciers). Take in this amazing spectacle from the viewing platform, head out in a boat or maybe even try some ice hiking!
Patagonia National Parks
The region of Patagonia is shared between Argentina and Chile, with the Andes mountains separating the two – and its absolutely bursting with natural wonders…including an astonishing 11 National Parks!
Bahia De Los Troncos
Bahia De Los Troncos is an amazing hiking route which covers just over 3km in a stunningly scenic 2-hour hike, across northern Patagonia. Top sites along the way include Lake Nahuel Huapi – so don’t forget to bring your swim gear to make sure you get to experience the crystal waters in all their glory.
Serrania de Hornocal, Quebrada de Humahuacha
Sometimes referred to as ‘the mountain of 14 colours’ – this absolutely ridiculous mountain range sits just 25km from the city of Humahuacha. These beauties reach an altitude of 4,761 metres above sea level and sit within the region of Quebrada de Humahuacha, which was declared a World Heritage site in 2003.
