Sometimes
planning for a shorter trip is actually much harder than being away for long
period of time. It’s almost overwhelming looking into all the sights and
activities available and then having to decide which ones to pick!
Budapest is
a popular destination for short trips and stop overs, so here is a guide on how
to spend a day in Budapest, making sure you get the best out of the city…
Museum of Sweets and Selfies
Head here in the morning for a visual and sensual delight! Drink tea from hanging crockery, ride unicorns, blind yourself in a rainbow mosaic and cuddle up with some furry flamingos. Here you will find plenty of Instagram opportunities that are more than encouraged! This ‘realm of the sweetest photos’ of bold lines, bright staircases and mad installations is only 10 euros per person.
Széchenyi Thermal Bath
This medicinal bath is the largest in Europe, supported by two thermal springs and offering up to a luxurious 40 degrees Celsius in heat. As a complete contrast in visuals, spend a few hours here lounging around on the side, enjoying a dip or swimming under the water fountains. The bath is lined by pale yellow buildings that hark back to its birth in 1913, which fell just after the Edwardian era, but still evokes feelings of a time gone by. Head here in the afternoon for a reflective chill in a timeless landscape.
Ruin Pubs
After your photo fab morning and relaxed afternoon, what better way to end your day in Hungary than by visiting the Ruin Pub area? This part of Budapest is home to the most beautifully unique preserved buildings where you can find an unparalleled place to have a drink and soak up the culture. If you head here early enough, you will also find vintage clothes shops and farmers markets on top of some of the city’s famous local bars!
While you are walking to and from these above destinations, you will of course be taking in the spectacular architecture on offer in Budapest. Try not to get neck ache as your eyes are constantly fixed on the buildings towering above along its streets of mixed design. If you think you could spend a better 24 hours in Budapest, let us know!
