Maldives: Most Amazing Places

The Maldives is an island nation based in South Asia, found within the Arabian Sea. Whenever we see photos of this place, we instantly wish we were there – with its perfect turquoise waters and heavenly white sands…you can almost imagine yourself basking in the glorious heat of the sun as you sip on some tropical cocktail. Here are BackHackers’ most amazing places to go in the Maldives…(sorry if we’ve made you jealous)

Malé

Head to the nation’s capital of Malé – a densely populated area that you may not have associated with the Maldives. But there’s more to this place than just idyllic beaches… Malé is actually full of colourful buildings and brightly coloured mosques. Make sure to check out the fish market near the harbour, as well as Majeedhee Magu (a main street full of cute little shops and restaurants).

Fulhadhoo

Fulhadhoo is one of the islands within Southern Maalhosmadulhu Atoll and reaches 31.5 hectares in area. If heading here, make sure to check out Bikini Beach for your own little slice of paradise!

Hithadhoo

The Atoll Island of Hithadhoo is situated 531 km south of Malé. If heading here, make sure to check out Eedhigali Kilhi Lake, surrounded by lush greenery – making for a fantastic walking trail!

Naifaru

Naifaru can be found 141 km north of Malé. Apart from its amazing snorkelling and diving opportunities, it also has a fantastic marine centre!

Felidhoo

Find the island of Felidhoo 77.92 km south of Malé.  Make sure to check out the reefs on both sides of the island: Masfalhi Falhu to the north and Saalanfalhu to the south – for some absolutely epic snorkelling and diving adventures!
