Nuts About Brazil

Brazil is a pretty incredible country – home to some absolutely gorgeous landscapes, stunning beaches and the tastiest sounding mountain in the world (Sugar Loaf…if you hadn’t heard). Did you know that it is also the fifth largest country in the world?! Pretty impressive…And here’s a list of some other pretty impressive places you should definitely check out in beautiful Brazil!

Rio De Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro is an obvious contender for this list – and rightly so! Part of the city is actually a World Heritage Site. It has a whole bunch of amazing sites to check out – such as beaches like Barra da Tijuca, Copacabana, Leblon and Ipanema. It’s also famous for its world-class Carnival and well known landmarks which include the statue of Christ the Redeemer on top of Corcovado mountain (one of the New Seven Wonders of the World) and Sugar Loaf Mountain (make sure to take the cable car for this one). This city has so much on offer between it’s culture, landscapes and events it’s hard to decide where to start!

São Paulo

Head to Brazil’s financial centre to check out some amazing historical architecture – such as the 1929 Martinelli skyscraper or modernist architect Oscar Niemeyer’s curvy Edifício Copan.

Ponta Negra

Find Ponta Negra beach in the city of Natal. At the south of the beach is the large dune Morro do Careca which is definitely worth a visit. Immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the beach by checking out any number of the shops, restaurants and bars that line the sands. If looking out to sea, you’ll be met by the sight of jangadas (brightly coloured local fishing boats) that stand out against the tropical hues of the ocean.

Barra Grande

The lazy seaside village of Barra Grande can be found in Trairi, Ceará, and is like a trip back in time. The village is populated with many palm trees, banana plants, cashew trees, sugar canes and mango trees – bringing tropical nature right to your doorstep. Amongst all the greenery, you’ll find cows and donkeys freely strutting their stuff around the town. Come here to relax and bask in the tranquil lifestyle of this untouched village.

Lençóis Maranhenses

The National Park of Lençóis Maranhenses can be found on Brazil’s north Atlantic coast. Head here to take in the overwhelmingly vast white dunes, mangrove swamps and lagoons. Lagoa Azul and Lagoa Bonita are some of the largest lagoons in the park.

Praia Dos Ingleses

The beautiful beach of Praia dos Ingleses can be found in Ingleses do Rio Vermelho and has something on offer for everyone. The right side of the beach provides an ideal environment for children with its calm waters, while the left encourages surfers and body boarders with its stronger waves. Populated year round by beach lovers, Praia dos Ingleses has plenty on offer in the surrounding area such as shops, bars, shows, restaurants and clubs. Head here to get the best of both worlds!

Praia Dos Carneiros

This beach can be found 5 km from the city of Tamandaré. Its white sands and palm trees that line the beach are just one reason to visit. Another is to explore the underwater world of the beautiful reef which forms a neat little natural pool when tides are low. This beach screams (or rather, gently whispers) tranquillity in a paradisaical setting which is perfect for a day of chilled adventure.
