Places You Won’t Believe Exist

This world is amazing. With so many wonders in abundance, you could explore for your entire life and still not get around to everything it’s got to offer…but you can still try!

Here are 5 of our top places of wonder that you won’t believe exist! Some of these photos look as if they could be computer generated…some of them just look totally out of this world!

Darvaza Gas Crater

This gas crater in Derweze, Turkmenistan is commonly referred to as the ‘Door’ or ‘Gate to Hell’…and you can see why! Its firey abyss doesn’t exactly summon thoughts of peaceful tranquillity. This natural gas field buckled into an underground cavern and it has been purposefully set on fire by Geologists to prevent the spread of methane gas. It has apparently been burning since 1971…

Antelope Canyon

No, it’s not a Windows background from 1998…it is in fact a real place located in Arizona, USA. This canyon is separated into two sections and is actually considered sacred land (and it’s not hard to see why with its whimsical optical illusion aesthetic). It is forbidden to enter the canyon without an official Navajo guide.

Salar de Uyuni

Find this endless salt flat in Southwest Bolivia. It is the world’s largest at nearly 11,000 square km. This prehistoric ex-lake, which is now all dried up, is often used in films to promote an area that is either enchanted or supernatural. In this seemingly alien world, you would think it hard to find any kind of life…but you would be wrong! This is home to many pink flamingos which look even brighter than normal in contrast to the stunningly white salt backdrop.

Torres del Paine National Park

This amazing National Park is located in Chile and is famous for its 3 prominent granite towers (Cuernos del Paine). Apart from the ridiculously impressive mountains, let your eyes feast on the contrasting bright blues of the icebergs and rich grasslands that are home to guanacos (a basic llama to you and me). This place is definitely not somewhere to call home, as its landscape is harsh and intimidating…but is certainly is one jaw dropping place to be!

Huacachina

How does this place exist?! Just… how?! Huacachina is a teeny tiny village located by a desert oasis in southwest Peru. There is certainly an epicentre of life here which totally surrounds the lagoon, that is lined with plants and greenery. If you take a buggy just over the dune, you might feel like you are completely lost in the desert, as you won’t be able to see any other signs of life for miles.
