China

Beijing, China

China’s Capital city is a must-visit destination! Bathed in history stretching back 3000 years, here you can visit the Imperial Palace, Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall of China.

Chengdu, China

If you thought 3000 was a long time…try 6000 years! That’s how long this city dates back. Here you can see endangered giant pandas.

Hong Kong, China

A 24/7 hub of hustle and bustle, Hong Kong is both a skyscaping-metropolis by day and a neon jungle by night. The Temple Street night market is a must, as well as the view from the highest point of Hong Kong Island.

Macau, China

Just across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong, visit the vibrant city of Macau. The historic centre contrasts hugely with the booming nightlife that some people have coined the “Las Vegas of Asia.”

Shanghai, China

Manali, India

This high-altitude town sits in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh. It is a popular backpacker and travel destination set on the Beas River. Experience skiing in the Soland Valley and rafting in the Pir Panjal mountains.

Mumbai, India

If you’re inspired by ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ you can take a guided tour of Dharavi, to peek into the lives of the locals. This energetic city has much to offer – being India’s largest city – and is home to the Gateway of India, Elephanta Caves and the Marine Drive Trail.

New Delhi, India

Delhi is the Capital of India, with New Delhi forming its urban district. Here you will find the Red Fort, Qutub Minar, India Gate and Humayun’s Tomb.

Indonesia

Bandung, Indonesia

Bandung is the Capital of Indonesia’s West Java Province. Check out the art deco architecture and laid back vibes in the city set amongst volcanoes and tea plantations. Head to Braga Street, Gedung Sate and Tangkuban Perahu.

Bali, Indonesia

Bali is a common destination on these lists, and rightly so – even with all the tourists, Bali is still a place of dreams. The tropical island is home to beautiful coral reefs, mountainous volcanoes and world famous beaches. Head to the Sacred Monkey Sanctuary, Mount Batur and the Uluwatu Temple.

Jakarta, Indonesia

This is Indonesia’s absolutely huge Capital city. Jakarta is a beautiful historic and cultural mix of Javanese, Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and European. Head to the old town, Kota Tua, Glodok (Jakarta’s Chinatown) and the old port of Sunda Kelapa.

Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

This island is east of Bali and is one of the areas’ top surfing spots. Head to Gerupuk, Ekas, and Selong Belanak for some chilled beginner waves.

Japan

Fukuoka, Japan

Head here for shopping, beaches and ancient temples. Top places to visit are Canal City Hakata, Fukuoka Tower and Ohori Park.

Kyoto, Japan

Previously the Capital of Japan, Kyoto is mostly known for its Buddhist temples, Imperial Palaces and gardens. Top places are Kinkaki-ji, Fushimi Inari Taisha, Arashiyama and Gion.

Osaka, Japan

Osaka is a large port city on the Japanese island of Honshu. Make sure to try some street food while you’re here, before heading off to the likes of the aquarium, Universal Studios Japan, Dotonbori, the 16th-century shogunate Osaka Castle or the Umeda Sky Building (just to name a few).

Sapporo, Japan

This city is famous for beer, skiing and the Annual Sapporo Snow Festival. Head to the Beer Museum, Odori Park and the TV Tower.

Malaysia

Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

This coastal city is home to thriving markets, beaches and a gorgeous National Park. Head here for snorkelling around the coral reef, or visit the marine reserve Manukan Island and Tanjung Aru.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia’s Capital City and is mostly recognisable from the 451m-tall Petronas Twin Towers. Top places are the Batu Caves, Menara Kuala Lumpur and Bukit Bintang.

Langkawi, Malaysia

Sometimes referred to as the Jewel of Kedah, Langkawi is made up of 99 islands in the Andaman Sea. Make sure to catch the views from the Skybridge Cable Car, Pantai Cenang and Crocodile Adventureland.

Malacca, Malaysia

This vibrant city is located just 2 hours from Kuala Lumpur. Make sure to visit Jonker Street in Chinatown for the night market and antique shops.

Penang Island, Malaysia

Penang Hill is one of the islands top spots. Get a peak of the entire city by day or night for breathtaking views. Other places to visit include the Kek Lok Si Temple and Penang National Park.

Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand

Thailand’s Capital is known for its vibrancy and energetic street life. Top places to visit while here are The Grand Palace, Wat Arun, Khaosan Road and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Situated in northern Thailand, Chiang Mai is renowned for its opulent temples – with hundreds in the region. Head to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, Dsi Inthanon National Park and Wat Chedi Luang.

Ko Samui, Thailand

Hanoi, Vietnam

Hanoi is the Capital City of Vietnam and is bursting at the seams with architecture and rich culture. Top places to visit are Hoan Kiem Lake, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Thang Long Imperial Citadel and One Pillar Pagoda.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Also referred to as Saigon, this city is known for its French architectural influence. Make sure to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, Ben Thanh Market, Independence Palace and the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon.

Hoi An, Vietnam

Located on Vietnam’s central coast, canals run through this Ancient Town like veins. Top places to stop by are the Japanese Covered Bridge, An Bang Beach, the Old House of Tan Ky and Phung Hung House.

Hue, Vietnam

A must see in Hue is the 19th century Dai Noi Citadel which is surrounded by stone walls and a moat. Other top picks are the Imperial City, Thien Mu Pagoda and the Tomb of Tu Duc.
